Greg has been called the "Math Missionary" for the dedication and passion he has shown in sharing his love of math with students, teachers and parents. Since 2001, he has done over 1,700 conferences, workshops and school visits, teaching more than 250,000 children and adults.

Conferences. Greg is a keynote and featured presenter at NCTM, IRA, ISTE and university conferences. His innovative approach to teaching – together with his trademark dry wit and good humor – produce rave reviews from energized audiences. Professional Development. Greg teaches more than 100 math professional development workshops each year in the U.S., Canada and Asia. He helps teachers improve both their content knowledge and teaching methods, and provides insight on new State and Common Core math standards.

One-hour session. In just 60 minutes, Greg can provide an overview of the key Common Core standards and the strategies students need to meet them. The goal of this mind-stretching session is to re-energize staffs and begin making sense of the many important changes ahead. 

Half-day session. In a longer session, Greg can develop concepts more fully and provide the intuition, teaching methods, and materials that will make difficult topics easier to teach and faster to learn. His areas of expertise include place value, number sense, standard algorithms, fractions, and fact fluency.

Full-day session. In just one day, Greg can give teachers a strong foundation in one or more of the major Common Core domains: Operations & Algebraic Thinking, Number & Operations in Base 10, and Fractions. Author Visits. Greg has worked with students in nearly every state and has been described as "revolutionary," "astounding," and "an answer to my prayers!" for the way he inspires even the most reluctant learners. Several of his student sessions are listed below.

Math Poems? Yeah, Write! (gr. K-2)
Greg takes primary students on a number-filled journey that covers three books and all four seasons. Along the way, he combines math with reading, poetry, science and even art history. Math has never looked like this! 

Ka-Chunk! (gr. 2-3)
Chunking or breaking numbers apart in smart ways is the key to good number sense and strong computational skills. Greg shares his uniquely entertaining and effective way of teaching this critical concept, curing kids of counting making math more enjoyable along the way.

The Best of Times (gr. 4-6)
We'll look at common sense strategies that make multiplying easy and intuitive so kids can calculate what they need, when they need it. We'll combine all 4 operations to develop strong mental math and problem-solving skills, and give kids the chance to truly love math. 

Parent Workshops
In one short session, Greg can bring parents and teachers together by helping parents gain a better understanding of new teaching methods and standards. He'll also show parents a few small ways they can help their children now that will have big payoffs later. Kids benefit most when everyone works together!
